On the Tuesday 24th January 2012, the US Senate will vote on a bill allegedly designed to prevent piracy of copyrighted materials. The reality is that it is little more than an internet censorship bill.
This law has the potential to fundamentally, and detrimentally change the internet as we know it. There are many companies against SOPA, and it’s sister-legislation, PIPA, including big-names such as Google, Reddit, Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia, and today I am lending whatever little amount of weight I have to the argument by taking my site down for the day.
