And, space agency officials said this afternoon at Kennedy Space Center the company says it will ramp up at least double its Brevard space work force over the next two years.

NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden, who visited KSC today to discuss the project’s future and its impact here, says the effort will bring high-quality technical jobs back to Florida’s Space Coast.

Bolden reiterated his earlier commitment that KSC would remain a major part of NASA’s future for decades to come.

Lockheed’s Orion work force at KSC now stands at about 150. Company officials expect to increase it to 300 to 400 by the end of 2013.
