Angel Tree program in malls

4 Dec

The Angel Giving Tree program begins today in NorthPark Mall, Davenport, and SouthPark Mall, Moline.

The Salvation Army and Retired Seniors Volunteer Program will collect new, unwrapped toys inside the malls at the Angel Trees. The hours of collection will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.

Anyone wanting to participate can select an angel tag from the tree and purchase a gift for a child.

The last day to choose an angel is Dec. 15.

Also, the Salvation Army and J.C. Penney have teamed up to provide holiday cheer to more children, teens and seniors in need through the angel tree program.

Through Dec. 13, customers will be able to visit and participate in an online version of the program. Customers can adopt an Angel in any community by searching by ZIP code, city and state, age and gender. The process takes less than 10 minutes, which is followed by confirmation email that includes the Angel’s wish list and information on where to ship your gifts.

This year, supporters may adopt 10 or more angels as part of a new group adoption feature. Adopting angels as a group enables companies, churches, civic organizations or online communities to manage the group adoption process online.

Angel Giving Tree gifts purchased through can be shipped free of charge to one of 1,200 Salvation Army collection centers nationwide.

In order to ensure delivery by Christmas, all adoptions and gift purchases made on must be completed before Dec. 9, otherwise a participant will have until Dec. 13 to purchase a J.C. Penney gift card.

Check in to a J.C. Penney store using Foursquare today and the company will donate $25 for every check-in made between 4 a.m. and 1 p.m. up to $100,000.
